Day 19 - The Backstory: Why did Jesus have to come?
Romans 5:19-21 - For just as through one man’s
disobedience the many were made sinners, so
also through the one man’s obedience the many
will be made righteous. (20) The law came along
to multiply the trespass. But where sin
multiplied, grace multiplied even more (21) so
that, just as sin reigned in death, so also
grace will reign through righteousness,
resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ
One of the most amazing consequences of Christmas is how God now views you and I
because of Jesus’ obedience. He took all our sins on Himself on the cross; we get that.
But did you know there was a divine exchange that happened, too? He took our sin and
gave us (imputed) His righteousness in return. When the Father looks on you and I He
sees Jesus, literally He sees you and I being as righteous as Jesus Himself! The result?
We can now be with God throughout eternity, nothing is left that can separate us.
Christmas is actually a Hallelujah story. Ephesians 1:9-10 - He made known to us the
mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he purposed in Christ (10) as a
plan for the right time—to bring everything together in Christ, both things in heaven and
things on earth in him.
